I do get people asking how I maintain my clear and good complexion with looking after kids and working at the same time. One of my key ways to ensure my skin receives the best nutrients is to be diligent in my facial mask at home.
For easy reference, I have grouped my masks in 3 categories:
1. Ritual Mask
In Singapore's climate, hydration is crucial.
How do I choose them : Read their ingredients and always try a new brand on the neck first to wait for any reaction.
How often I use them : Every alternate days after my shower. Just spend 20 mins after shower lying on bed to rest or watch the tv programmes. After, pat dry and lightly wipe off the stickiness with a clean sponge.
Now this is a tricky one. Got to trial and error as some masks do have very rich properties and there were instances when my face reacted to it after a few hours. I would start to have itch and rashes.
How do I choose them : I never buy alot of it on a first try. Never be greedy and apply on eyes. I use the excess on neck, hands and legs.
How often do I use them : Once every 2 weeks. However, on days when my skin feels really dry and need an extra boast e.g. for an important event, I do use these mask after my hrdration mask.
Deep Cleansing Mask
Depending on skin type, I do not recommend application on entire face for dry skin or combination skin.
How do I choose them : I read reviews. Actually I find most deep cleanse mask are about the same.
How often do I use them : Over my T zone only and over pimples. Once a week. And a definite must to use hydration mask after.
2. Splurge Mask
This is one mask that I splurge on. CO2 mask has whitening, anti aging and lifting effect. The results is immediate. You may click here to see a video I had done on the CO2 mask.
How do I choose them : Only reccommended by doctor and always try before splurging on a dozen of them.
How often do I use them : The night before or on the day of the important event. And because CO2 facilitate O2 to skin cells, skin looks radiant, fair and plumped up immediately after use!
3. Lazy Mask
I do get my low days when I'm just so tired from doing anything after my shower. So sleeping mask are my best friends:)
After shower, simply layer them on the face and neck and I'm off to bed. So there's simply no excuse not to mask!
All the above products are items I have been using till today. They work for me and I do hope they will work on you too. However, no one person although of the same skin type may have the same reaction to a product. So always take reviews with a pinch of salt and never buy alot on impluse:)
So this is the result from the diligency. This picture was taken today 4th March 2016, completely without makeup. I've brightened up the picture as it looked dark (taken indoors).
We all want to age gracefully and with the help from modern technolgies, beauty salons and doctors we can achieve it. However, by indulging yourself in this affordable pleasure :
- we get to de stress
- prolong and improve the results from the salon and/or doctors treatments
- requires less time than visiting a spa
Hope this sharing helps all the girls and busy mommies out there. On a side note, I tutor my kids with my mask on. Thats for those wondering how I run around with my kids and do my mask at the same time:)
